Can I use AfterPay to pay for my jump?
Yes! We are pleased to say we now offer AfterPay as a payment option in-store.
Please note that at this time AfterPay is only available for in-store payments and only for direct bookings.
How long will my skydive take?
It typically takes 1.5 hours from your arrival to complete your skydive, but please allow 3 hours just in case. We need to allow for changes in the weather and because we are an aviation business, unexpected operational requirements can pop up from time to time.
How long is freefall in a skydive?
Your freefall can be anywhere from 20 seconds, all the way up to 75 seconds depending on the altitude you choose to jump from!

How long is my parachute ride to the ground?
After you’ve experienced the thrill of freefall from your chosen altitude you’ll enjoy a relaxing parachute ride to the ground. You’ll have approximately 5 minutes to soak up the incredible views of the Bay of Islands.
What is the age limit?
There is no age limit to experience a skydive, however, passengers under 18 years of age require signed consent from their parent or guardian. All passengers must securely fit in the harness. Please get in contact with our staff if you require a parental consent form to be emailed to you prior to your jump.
What is the weight limit?
In order to ensure the safety of all participants, we have a weight limit of 100kg. We do have a bit of leeway with this depending on the weather conditions. If you are over this limit please get in touch with our crew prior to booking your jump.
What should I wear for my jump?
No special clothing is required! We provide each jumper with a jumpsuit to wear over their clothes. But we do recommend you dress warmly (especially during the cooler months) and comfortably. We also require all jumpers to be wearing closed-toed shoes.
Do I need to choose my height and camera now?
Nope! Even after you’ve purchased your jump you still have the option to upgrade your jump height and add camera packages. Once you arrive at our Drop Zone on the day of your jump our staff will go over our different altitudes and camera packages to help you choose the best fit for you!
What camera options do you have?
We have three different camera options to choose from. We offer free fall and selfie videos and photos. Everything is shot in HD. Check out our Photo and Videos page for more information, or contact our staff for help choosing the package that best suits you.
Can I take my own camera?
You can take as much footage as you like on the ground but there are strict rules on taking extra equipment on the plane. So unfortunately not, sorry! Our own camera flyers do a minimum of 200 jumps before they begin training for the camera, and since we are working with lines and parachutes there are too many safety issues with bringing your GoPro along. We do offer a range of different camera packages though – check out our Photo and Video Packages page for more info!
What equipment do I need to being for my tandem skydive?
You don’t need to bring any equipment. All your tandem skydiving gear will be provided for you.
Can I still jump if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect your ability to skydive, please seek professional medical advice prior to jumping.
Can I skydive whilst pregnant?
Unfortunately, you cannot skydive whilst pregnant.
Can my family/friends/significant other come and watch?
Absolutely! We have a viewing area set up where spectators will be able to watch your whole experience – from when the plane takes off until your feet are back on the ground!
When is the best time to skydive in New Zealand?
Any time is a good time to skydive in New Zealand. The Bay of Islands is situated in “The Winterless North” and is the warmest and sunniest drop zone in New Zealand. You’ll still need warm clothing if you’re jumping in the winter months, however.
Do I need to check the weather before my skydive?
Skydiving is a weather-dependent activity. Our staff will make a weather call an hour before each jump time to assess the weather conditions and ensure we will be able to jump. On the day of your skydive, call us on 0800 GO JUMP (0800 465867) an hour before your reservation time to reconfirm your booking.
Can I skydive by myself?
You can’t skydive by yourself on your first jump, but if you’re interested in skydiving as a sport we offer a comprehensive Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) course – please get in touch with our staff or check out our AFF page for more info!
Can I learn to skydive solo?

Do you allow sport jumpers?
Yes! Skydive Bay of Islands welcomes sports skydivers!
Can I rent skydiving sports gear?
We do have sports gear available for rental, but please get in touch with our staff regarding rental prior to your arrival at the Drop Zone.
