At Skydive Bay of Islands, we are extremely lucky to have the stunning Bay of Islands and it’s surroundings as our office. It’s a beautiful place to work and we want to keep it that way for decades to come. That’s why we are committed to doing our bit to protect the environment we operate out of.
Carbon Footprint Reduction
We’re working with Trees That Count to help mitigate our carbon footprint over the next 50 years, and help protect New Zealand’s threatened biodiversity. This is done by funding native trees planted in our beautiful area. That’s good for our carbon footprint, and for Aotearoa.
Our Aircraft
While it’s well known that planes are not the most environmentally friendly things we can’t eliminate the need for them just yet! However, we are committed to selecting the most efficient aircraft for the job and we do our best to make sure that we operate it in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Skydive Bay of Islands uses a Cessna Caravan, which is both fast and fuel-efficient. We also carry out extensive engine monitoring to track engine performance, look for and implement further operational efficiencies.

Noise and the Environment
Aircraft are typically quite loud and their operation can have a significant impact on the people in the vicinity of operations. We consider this with our aircraft selection and wherever possible, flights are kept away from noise-sensitive areas.
Digital Photos and Videos
While your amazing memories are available to take away on a reusable USB stick, we have also incorporated an online media storage facility into our system which means your experience is available to share digitally with family and friends within a few moments of you landing, cutting down on the need to print copies and keep track of a USB or other storage device.
Waste Management and Recycling
At Skydive Bay of Islands, we have recycling facilities on site, which separate plastics, glass, and paper. Our staff makes a conscious effort to recycle whatever they can, and we encourage all of our customers to use these facilities too. The recycled materials are then collected by the council and sent to a sorting centre.
Giving back to our community
Skydive Bay of Islands believes very strongly in supporting our local community and welcomes any opportunity to be involved in giving back to our community. We support a number of charities.
Some of the ways we give back to the community include donating prize sponsorships. A few we have contributed to in the last 12 months include:
- Donating a 12000ft skydive to local a primary
- Donating a 12000ft skydive to Hospice
- Partnering with Alzheimer’s Northland
- Annual Donations to Project Islands Song

When we partner with other local businesses in the area we make sure that they adopt the same environmental values and sustainable practices that we believe in. After all, looking after the environment is a group effort!
Every little bit….
We are always looking for ways to improve Skydive Bay of Islands’ impact on the environment. In addition to the actions listed above, we are also proactively reducing our electricity and water consumption by purchasing efficient equipment and consumables as well as environmentally friendly cleaning products.
